Litfuse Review: Brave Is the New Beautiful
When I was recently offered the opportunity to review Brave Is the New Beautiful: Finding the Courage to Be the Real You by Lee Wolfe Blum, I had no idea how powerful it would be.
As a woman, do you ever feel like your outward image will never measure up to societal standards? Society pushes images of super-model skinny and Barbie image perfection. The truth is that our beauty comes shining through from our hearts and souls. The Bible assures us that beauty "should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight." (1 Peter 3:4) In Brave Is the New Beautiful, author Lee Wolfe Blum reaffirms the Bible's truths by sharing personal stories in short devotionals that will touch the reader's heart and impact her future as she builds a new and better self image: one rooted in God's Truth by knowing Whose she is and that to Him she is priceless. Each chapter ends with a short series of reflective questions that will help the reader delve deeper and apply the devotional points to her life. This is a book every woman should read, especially teen girls who are defining what being a woman looks like. Brave Is the New Beautiful will help every woman define her self-image in a new, healthy, God approved way.
Lee Wolfe Blum is more than an author and passionate speaker. She is also a mental health practitioner. She works with those who are fighting addictions and eating disorders. She loves to help women find hope and healing. Lee lives in Minnesota with her husband and three teenage sons.
